I Like to Fish
I really enjoy getting out to do some fishing whenever I can so yesterday, on my day off from school, was a perfect time to go with my friend Rick to Springfield Lake and do some fishing. We have tried other places to fish in the past few weeks but we just had no luck at all. We tried fishing up on Stockton Lake a couple of weeks ago when the weather was so nice and in the high 70's but we had no luck at all. We stayed there for a couple of hours and did not even get one little bite. Being the true fisherman that we are though we decided to give it one more try, before my Rick leaves to go work in Afghanistan again for a year, so off we went to the lake to catch some fish. We thought we would just go to the dam down on Springfield Lake, as it is the closest to us, just in case the fish still were not biting. We stopped to pick-up some worms at the gas station and decided to just get one dozen as we have yet to use a full dozen. As we started to drive over the bridge we noticed that the rain we had in the last few days had really brought the water up so we were going to have to fish from the bank of the Dam if we wanted to fish. We were going to try to go down a little further on the river until we saw how high the water had rose. As we unpacked the gear and baited up our hooks we were pretty confident that today was the day we were finally going to have some luck in catching some fish. As we through our lines in the water it wasn't but a minute later that I looked at Rick and told him I had a bite then another then I jerked my pole on the next bite and hooked that fish. As I reeled in my pole and I got him pulled up out of the water I could see that I had caught a baby perch, he was not a keeper but at last the fish were starting to bite. We ended the day catching about 10 of those fish and we used up all of our worms, nothing spectacular but at least the fish are starting to bite.
